Adult Facilitators
Adult facilitators will be responsible for leading Team Meetings at GOT and assisting youth facilitators with leading small groups. Adult facilitators are also responsible for supervision of youth during all times at GOT. Adult facilitators are adult volunteers that work in the fields of youth leadership, school faculty, law enforcement, drug prevention, or other related field. Adult facilitators will be required to pass a criminal background check.
Adult Facilitators facilitate. This word comes from the
Latin word facil,
which means “to make easy.” At GOT, this mean helping the
group become “unstuck,” providing security for the group by
developing ground rules, and stressing confidentiality
except in cases of abuse.
Adult facilitators are responsible for taking the lead in
CAT (Community Action Team) group planning and discussions.
Adult facilitators participate in small group sessions but
are expected to step back and allow youth facilitators to
take charge.
Adult Facilitators perform the following functions:
• follow GOT curriculum for each CAT group.
• provide icebreakers.
• prepare for each session.
• finish on time.
• Assist youth facilitator with preparation for small group
sessions.

Assist youth
facilitator with small group facilitation
• sit with
small group during general sessions and take attendance.
• assist in the subdivision of CATs during the first
meeting.
• assist CAT teams in navigating the action planning
process and in implementing their plan after GOT.
• be a role model.

dorm management and supervision

during the training and assist with
solutions
