Youth Facilitators facilitate. This word comes from the
Latin word facil,
which means “to make easy.” At GOT, this mean helping the
group become “unstuck,” providing security for the group by
developing ground rules, and stressing confidentiality
except in cases of abuse.
Youth facilitators are responsible for taking the lead in
facilitating small group sessions. Youth facilitators will
participate in CAT (Community Action Team) group meetings
as participants and allow adult facilitators to lead the
group.
Youth Facilitators perform the following functions:
• follow GOT
curriculum for each small group, making adjustments as
needed with permission from program assistant
• provide
icebreakers.
• prepare for each session.
• finish on time.
• Communicate
with adult facilitator regarding plans for small group
sessions and issues raised during sessions.
• sit with
small group during general sessions and take attendance.
• be a role model.
